I am a dreamer and a doer. Always passionate about Art!
Visual graphics have been, and continue to be, the main outlet for my artistic expression in life.
Since I was a young girl, I have enjoyed immersing myself in the world of imaginative and would doodled on every empty spot of paper I could find using whatever mediums I could get my hands on. however, having grown up in Taiwan, my parents believed that only academic educations would lead to a sure-fire path of success. The pursuance of art as a career was and still is discouraged by most Asian parents. Even though I was excelling at both art and math at school, creating art at home wasn’t welcomed but was viewed as wasting time in my parents’ eyes. In college my father chose a math major for me and expected me to be a mathematics-related professional. But art has always in the core of my heart. So despite my parents lack of approval, I silently pursued my dream. I studied designs and sketches on my own after math classes. I successfully passed the exams and changed from a science major to a design major in my sophomore year of college in Taiwan. Despite my late start in my new major, I was able to catch up with my classmates and, with discipline and dedication, I received a third place high achievement award at the end of my intense sophomore year. This was confirmation to me that my art journey was meant to be.
After three years of devoting myself to the fiend of Commercial Design, I earned my BFA degree. Upon graduation, I worked as a graphic designer in two major publications in Taiwan for one and a half years. Then I decided to go abroad to advance my education in a Multimedia Computing in the Arts program by pursuing an MA degree at San Jose State University in California. After completing this degree, I began working as a graphic project lead and also gained experience as the manager of a design team in China for several years.
I strive to use my artistic talents and creative mind, which links both art and science, to create beautiful pieces that can deeply touch my viewers each day. And, I believe new opportunities come when we have the courage to take a leap of faith and step out of our comfort zone.
In my personal time I love traveling to new places, exploring new experiences and meeting new friends. I have also found joy in running both long and short distances to raise money for the charities, and to maintain a healthy body and mind. I began running in 2014 when I was invited to participate in a race as part of a fundraising effort to find a cure for Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. Striving to make a positive different in someone else’s life has proven to be very meaningful to me, while also transforming my own lifestyle. I progressed from walking to jogging, then running further and further, and now I can genuinely call myself a marathoner. Life is full of possibilities when you invest your time into it! Let’s stay active and thrive!
